There is also a proposal from last year’s Federal Budget which has yet to be legislated that will alter the rules for superannuation (specifically self-managed superannuation funds). The change that may alter the information contained in this module include:
1. From 1 July 2017, the outstanding balance of a limited recourse borrowing arrangement will be included in a member’s annual total superannuation balance. The proposal has not been legislated.
This change is still only a proposal at the time of writing (1 July 2018) and legislation needs to be passed to make it effective. Importantly, changes could be made or the proposal may be rejected.
